- Some forms are cheaper when filed online, and I-765 and I-131 are free with a pending I-485.
- The fee does not include medical exams, translations or legal fees.
- Use the fee calculator to estimate your total, including dependants.
The main USCIS filing fees
USCIS charges a filing fee for most forms, including I-130 (family petition), I-485 (adjustment of status), I-140 (employment petition) and N-400 (naturalization). The amounts changed under the April 2024 fee rule.
Use the VisaWyse fee calculator to see the current amount for your exact route, because several forms now charge a lower fee when filed online.
Department of State (visa) fees
Nonimmigrant visas (such as B-1/B-2, F-1 or H-1B) are charged through the DS-160 application and the associated visa (MRV) fee, which is separate from any USCIS fee.
Immigrant visa applicants going through consular processing also pay an immigrant visa fee after their case is approved.
What is not included
The filing fee does not cover the medical exam, translations, police certificates, courier costs or an attorney's fees, all of which can add up quickly.
Biometrics are included in some fees but charged separately for others, so check the calculator's breakdown for your route.
How fees changed
The April 2024 USCIS fee rule introduced a standard online discount for some forms and made I-765 and I-131 free only when filed together with a pending I-485.
Because these rules change, always confirm the current amount on the official USCIS page before paying.
How to estimate your total
Add the filing fee for your main form, any required dependant forms, biometrics where separate, and the optional I-765/I-131 if you need work or travel authorisation.
The VisaWyse fee calculator does this automatically by route and number of applicants, so you can budget before you pay.
